Public Service by The BEARS:
Manchester Road Race - Thanksgiving Day
The BEARS supply 55 hams to man observation stations every quarter mile along the race course, to shadow the race organizers, to facilitate loading/unloading of shuttle buses, synchronize race clocks, and more. They provide similar services on a smaller scale for the "Little Road Race" held for children on the previous Saturday.
Other scheduled events:
Hockanum River Canoe and Kayak Race
The BEARS provide radio communications along the Hockanum River from the Manchester-Tolland line to the dam behind the McDonalds on Burnside Avenue in East Hartford.
